About Lilo

Lauryn Adelie "Lilo" Reyes Mendoza, beloved daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, goddaughter, niece, and friend to all, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of three on June 19, 2023 at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Lilo was born on May 6, 2020, as the first child of Michael and Camille Mendoza. She lived a big life of learning through outdoor adventures and living an extraordinarily ordinary life at home. She was often playing by the beach, looking for her friend "Humming" the Hummingbird on walks, or everywhere her parents went—because everywhere was always better in her company.

Lilo was a great teacher of all the most important things in life. She was empathetic, always sought out ways to help, make everyone laugh, and had the boundaries to ask for space when needed. She was observant, resilient, kind, brave, and strong.

At her young age, Lilo had a great love of Jesus. She knew to speak to Him when she needed to share stories with someone after bedtime. She always reminded her caregivers about praying before bed. She eagerly looked forward to receiving a blessing during Holy Communion. And recently dedicated herself to learning her song with actions at Children's Liturgy, and praying her prayer intentions.

Lilo's passing has left a tremendous void in our lives. We pray that she may continue to help all of us to remember the most important things in life.
